Asking a question

You don't need an account or an email to ask. We keep your question and the answer, and a cookie lets this browser find your thread again. Answered questions can be shared by anyone who has the link, and we may quote questions and answers, without anything that identifies you.

If you leave your email

If you ask us to email your answer, we use your address for that one email and delete it once it has been sent.

If you sign up for wine picks, Ask Wines keeps your address, when you signed up and what you agreed to, and uses them to send you email. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We don't sell your address.

Wine pros

If you sign up for shifts, we keep your contact details to run the event. We use your name, credential, workplace and accolades to promote Ask Wines, and your name and credential appear publicly on the answers you write. Your email and phone number stay private.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of essential cookies and browser storage: one keeps your questions tied to this browser, and others remember that you confirmed you're 21 or older and what you chose on the cookie bar. Wine pros and admins also get a sign-in cookie.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't track you across sites. It records things like the page you visited, the site that sent you, your country and your device type, plus moments such as asking a question or signing up for a shift. If you choose Decline on the cookie bar, we stop counting your visits. To change your choice, clear this site's data in your browser.
